The journey to becoming Coastal Community Church Cocoa

Becoming Coastal Community Church Cocoa

On Sunday June 14th, we announced a seismic shift in our church’s future. Lineage Church is becoming the fourth location of Coastal Community Church.

CCC’s broadcast campus is located in Parkland, in South Florida. Pastors TJ and Shayla, who were with us in worship this past Sunday, founded the church in 2009. Today, Coastal Community Church is recognized as the seventh fastest growing church in America by Outreach magazine’s 100 Fastest-Growing Churches list with a current average weekly attendance of 5,000 people and a proven track record of building the Kingdom of God.

We are honored to join what God is doing through their ministry. As Coastal Community Church of Cocoa, we will become their first location outside of their home region and our footprint on the Space Coast will expand immediately. We will reach more people for Jesus, more quickly, than ever before. Couple this merger with our already-in-motion Phase I Remodel and Expansion plans, and the work is in high gear.

A Special Update for our Church Family

This Sunday, July 19th, we’ll gather at 10:00 AM at the Holiday Inn ballroom, just across the street from our building.

The following Sunday, July 26th, we won’t be able to meet at the Holiday Inn — the ballroom was already booked for a prior event before we secured our regular use of the space. For that Sunday, we’ll share an online message right here on our website, so you can still connect with us wherever you are.

We’re also using July 26th as an opportunity: we’re encouraging as many of our church family as are able to make the trip down to Coastal Community Church that morning. Many of us will be going, and it promises to be a great experience — a firsthand look at the new and larger church family we’re joining.

We’re grateful for your flexibility during this season of transition, and we can’t wait to worship together this Sunday.

FAQs About The Merger

Is Pastor Randy staying?
Yes, absolutely! He will be the Location Pastor.
"Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you." Hebrews 13:17
Will we be a video location?
Yes. On Grand Opening Sunday the presentation in our new auditorium will be a must see. Our cameras and our screens are missionaries transmitting the Word of God, locally & globally.
"It is the same with my WORD. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it." Isaiah 55:11
What is the benefit to a merger like this for us?
It is purely a Kingdom of God expansion move that will enable us to affect the Space Coast faster and go further than we ever have before for the cause of Christ. It is a 10 X plan!
"I have come to seek and to save those who are lost." - Jesus (Luke 19:10)
Does Lineage Church cease to be?
Yes. We are still the same church family continuing to do the great  things we’ve always done locally. Our family will grow like never before.  All of the assets of Lineage Church are being gifted to Coastal Community. This is normal procedure when nonprofits (501 c3), transfer or merge as we are doing.
"I will build my church" - Jesus (Matthew 16:18)
Will we still have elders?
Not as a governing board that we currently have. Pastor Randy will be the biblical Elder on location.
1 Timothy 3:1-7
Is this merge happening because we are unhealthy as a church and need help?
No. We are a very healthy church with a great culture and environment for people to find a relationship with Jesus Christ. This is the great news of this merger. We are taking quite literally the scripture that says, “Two are better than one.” - Solomon (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
Will our constitution and bylaws still be in operation?
No. We will come under the pastoral leadership of Coastal Community and it’s governance.
“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-12
Will our Strategic Partnerships go away?
Yes. However, several of the partners we already support are also supported by Coastal Community, currently.
“Go into all the world and make disciples…” - Jesus (Matthew 28:18)
What is going to happen as we move our Sunday service to the hotel leading up to the Grand Opening?
A full integration of the structure and systems of Coastal Community will be completed. Our staff will build our Dream Team larger than ever before for the Grand Opening. We will need approximately 150 students and adults involved, leading up to that great day!
“He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields." - Jesus (Matthew 9:37-38)
